Green Action Energy Ā· Content prepared: Ā· Updated:

A 10 kW system is a power rating, not a promise to cover every home's electricity use. Suitability depends on demand, available space and connection conditions. First clarify whether a quotation refers to panel capacity in kWp or inverter output in kW.

Panel count and usable roof area

Divide total array Wp by module Wp for an initial estimate. With hypothetical 450 Wp modules, 22 panels provide 9.9 kWp and 23 provide 10.35 kWp. Final string design must respect inverter voltage, current and tracker limits; matching the total power is not sufficient.

Panel surface area is smaller than the roof area required for the installation. Allow access routes, setbacks from obstacles and spacing between rows. Structural capacity and waterproofing must be considered before choosing the mounting layout.

Annual generation in Crete

Annual energy equals installed kWp multiplied by specific yield in kWh/kWp/year. Specific yield must be calculated for the location, slope, orientation and losses. One value cannot describe every property on the island.

Hypothetical specific yieldEnergy from 10 kWp
1,300 kWh/kWp/year13,000 kWh/year
1,500 kWh/kWp/year15,000 kWh/year
1,700 kWh/kWp/year17,000 kWh/year

This is a sensitivity exercise, not a local production forecast. Use the European Commission's PVGIS alongside a site shading assessment. Annual generation alone does not reveal how much energy will be used directly rather than exported.

Cost scope and battery selection

Request separate lines for PV equipment, installation, protection, connection work and optional storage. Do not choose a 10 kWh battery merely because the array is 10 kW: power and energy are different quantities. Measure evening demand and the daytime surplus available to recharge storage. A backup requirement also adds power, switching and critical-load constraints.

Published examples

Our portfolio includes 10 kW PV with 10 kWh storage in Anissaras and a 10 kW hotel installation in Zaros. These records support the stated capacity and installation type, not unpublished yield or payback claims.

For a residential PV assessment, provide twelve months of bills, roof photographs and operating schedules for major appliances. This allows 10 kW to be compared with smaller or larger designs on a consistent basis. Keep projected vehicle charging and heating demand identifiable rather than mixing assumptions into measured bills.

When is 10 kW too much or too little?

Nominal capacity cannot be derived from the annual bill alone. A home with little daytime demand may export much of its output, while a small business with steady daytime loads may use more of the same system on site. Ask for smaller, proposed and larger configurations under the same generation assumptions.

A technical proposal should show the actual roof layout, shading by roof area, available electrical capacity and how loads are served when solar output is absent. The ā€œ10 kWā€ label alone says little about installation quality or economic value.
