About us

Energy Infrastructure & Smart Home Installations

The Green Action Energy delivers complete solutions in solar PV, battery storage and electrical installations for homes, businesses and industrial facilities. Our goal is a technically sound project: proper engineering, quality materials and clear documentation.

We serve Heraklion, Rethymno, Chania and, more broadly, Greece. Whether you need Net Billing, Zero Feed-In or Off-Grid (off-grid), we design the system around your consumption, objectives and available space.

  • Solar PV with battery: greater autonomy and improved use of generated energy
  • Net Billing / Zero Feed-In: properly configured self-consumption solutions
  • Existing solar PV upgrade: add storage and optimise performance
  • UPS & backup: critical loads, equipment protection and commercial installations

Cost Calculator

Solar PV cost and payback estimate

Illustrative calculator, not a quotation or performance guarantee. It uses fixed cost assumptions and annual generation of 1,700 kWh per kW, not a study of your property. Actual savings depend on self-consumption, shading, losses, tariffs and settlement terms. This is not a complete Net Billing financial analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about solar PV, batteries and Net Billing

We have collected the questions we most often receive about residential and commercial installations in Crete and throughout Greece.

Net Billing means that you first consume the electricity generated by your solar PV system, while surplus energy exported to the grid is compensated financially. The actual benefit depends mainly on how much generation you use on site and on your day-to-night consumption profile.

Zero Feed-In, also known as Zero Export, is a self-generation system configured not to export any electricity to the grid. It is useful where the grid is constrained or when your objective is pure self-consumption with proper load control and, usually, a battery.

A battery is not essential, but it can make a major difference when:
  • you use significant electricity at night, such as air conditioning, water heating, charging, refrigeration or business equipment
  • you need greater autonomy during power cuts with a correctly designed backup setup
  • you want high self-consumption rather than exporting surplus generation
The right choice depends on your loads, consumption profile and objective: savings or autonomy.

Not automatically. Most on-grid solar PV systems shut down during an outage for grid-safety reasons. Backup power requires a properly designed solution, such as a critical-load sub-panel, a compatible hybrid inverter or ATS and, usually, a battery. Capacity and runtime are designed around your actual loads.

Floor area alone is not what matters. We assess: energy use (kWh), simultaneous loads (kW), operating hours and whether night-time loads must also be covered. We review bills, equipment and usage habits, then recommend a realistic system size.

It depends on the system type, location and grid availability. Physical installation is usually relatively quick, while applications, approvals and work scheduling determine the overall timeline. We therefore begin with a proper needs assessment and case review.

Solar PV systems are generally low-maintenance, but you should plan for:
  • visual and electrical inspection of connections, panels and protection devices
  • panel cleaning when dust, salt or muddy rain accumulates, particularly in Crete
  • generation monitoring to identify performance drops
Frequency depends on the environment and site access.

Warranties vary by manufacturer and model. Panels usually carry long-term performance warranties, while inverters and batteries have separate terms. Correct installation, suitable protection and proper monitoring are essential to keep those warranties valid.

Often yes, but it is not always plug-and-play. We check inverter compatibility, available inputs, battery location, switchboards and protection devices, and whether critical-load backup is required. We then propose a safe and technically appropriate solution.

For an accurate quotation we need consumption data, supply type, key loads and operating hours, available roof or ground space, location and your objective: savings, autonomy, backup or zero export. We use this information to design a technically sound system rather than a generic package.
